Getting the right quote

Getting the right quote as a customer can be challenging and time consuming. With a handful of quotes to choose from, which is the right quote to choose?
The checklist to avoiding risk of a bad quote
Do NOT accept a quote by words in conversation
Do NOT accept a quote as a text message
Do NOT accept a quote as text in a email
Do NOT accept a documented quote that has no sole trader's/company heading (name) and address
Do NOT accept a quote that is not clear or vague in it's description
Do NOT pay a deposit by cash (the worst a customer can do)
Do ACCEPT a documented quote that has a sole trader's/company heading (name) and address
Do ACCEPT a quote that has a description that IS clear and understandable and makes sense to YOU about labour and if included the materials for the job
Do ACCEPT a quote that requests you to pay a deposit in a safe and secure method such as an online bank transfer or an alternative secure payment method such as PayPal that is trackable and traceable and shows proof of payment as cash-in-hand has no proof of payment and cannot be tracked or traced to the sole trader, tradespeople or company
Do ACCEPT a quote that comes with insurance for the work carried out
Do ACCEPT a quote that comes with warranty so that if anything happens to the work done, it will be fixed free of charge
If your potential sole trader, tradespeople or company can meet all of the above "Do ACCEPT" bullet points within their quotes, terms and conditions and policies, you can have peace of mind about any work to be done at your home
